Part 2: Does Google Search like AI generated content?

I run a website offering demographic analysis reports for selecting business locations and exploring neighborhoods. To increase traffic, I'm integrating content with visualizations of census data. A key feature is maps showing the richest neighborhoods in major U.S. cities, highlighting areas with the highest median incomes. This requires explanatory text to help users understand the maps. Utilizing ChatGPT, I upload these maps and generate insightful analyses, enhancing user comprehension and creating SEO-friendly content.
Now the question is when I generate this content will it help my rankings on Google. Would google ignore these pages since they are auto generated by use of AI?

Summary of Google's Stance on AI-Generated Content

In this blog post from Google has summarized their position on AI generated content. The short answer is AI generated content is A-OK if it is useful to the users and it is of high quality. Here’s some points relevant from Google’s guidelines.
  • Google's ranking systems prioritize high-quality content, whether created by humans or AI.
  • High-quality content is defined by "E-E-A-T": expertise, experience, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness.
  • Google does not ban AI-generated content but advises against using AI solely to manipulate search rankings, as this violates Google's spam policies.
  • Not all use of automation, including AI, is considered spam. AI can be used to generate helpful content like sports scores, weather forecasts, and transcripts.
  • Publishers should focus on creating original, high-quality, people-first content that exhibits E-E-A-T qualities.
  • Transparency about the use of AI in content creation is encouraged, including providing information about the author and the purpose behind the content.

Analyzing a map that contains data relatetd to rich neighborhoods and creating textual explanations of affluent neighborhoods using AI, such as ChatGPT, aligns well with Google's guidelines on AI-generated content. Here's how it meets the criteria:
  1. Original Information and Analysis: AI-generated explanations of affluent neighborhoods offer original insights and analyses. This content goes beyond just presenting data, adding unique perspectives and context to the visualizations, thereby adhering to Google's emphasis on originality in content creation.
  1. Comprehensive Descriptions: The AI-generated text provides a thorough and complete description of the neighborhoods represented in the maps. This comprehensive approach ensures that the content is informative and valuable, in line with Google's preference for detailed and substantial content.
  1. Insightful Beyond the Obvious: By analyzing the geographic and demographic data, AI can reveal patterns and insights that may not be immediately obvious. This level of insightful analysis meets Google's criterion of providing interesting information that adds substantial value to the existing data.
  1. Adherence to E-E-A-T Principles: The content created through AI helps establish expertise and authoritativeness, particularly if it's backed by accurate data and analysis. As long as the content is factual, reliable, and trustworthy, it aligns with the trustworthiness aspect of E-E-A-T.
In summary, by using AI to generate text explanations of wealthy neighborhoods based on census data, you are creating content that is original, comprehensive, insightful, and adheres to Google's E-E-A-T standards. This approach not only serves your audience with valuable information but also aligns with SEO best practices as outlined by Google.
